Visits to the gynecologist provoke anxiety as it requires women to speak about their most intimate and personal issues in a social setting, while all of it is saved in their medical records. In this painting, the screen shows a fetus sticking its tongue out as if to defy coming into the world. The light above the doctor's head is a humoristic hint at a holy light. The feelings of both safety and fear are visible in the patient's face and Hosseini is expressing the contradictory emotions that may come out of a gynecological visit, including determinism and free will, relief and fear, life and death, hope and hopelessness.
