Colored Pencil on Black Paper

During the artist’s research into optical perception and how the human eye perceives light and color, he became interested in ophthalmological practices. The ophthalmologist analyzes how well one can see, and enables them to see better. We perceive reality and the world we live in as a succession of images through our eyes, as such Ruxa often finds himself in an ophthalmological consultation having a metaphysical experience. Ophthalmological consultations are intense visual experiences, since they test how one sees not only colours, but also letters and sometimes symbols. This drawing is a written landscape inspired by ophthalmological test boards and one in particular where the viewer looks at a picture of a dreamy vibrant landscape of green grass and red flowers, through a hole in the machine.
